“Escort” – Felt and Wire Guide

Two Styles – Low Profile and High Profile Designs

General Description

Our “Escort” felt and wire guides are designed and manufactured to minimize the space requirement on the paper machine. Our guides are designed using a simple mechanism that is durable and maintenance free and built to last for a long time in service.

Advantages

Sluggishness eliminated:

• Carriage mounted on anti-friction bearings for practically frictionless movement
• No sliding seals dragging on the ways
• Frictionless diaphragm actuators instead of cylinders with piston cups and rod seals
• Unique bearing mounting, which eliminates binding from deflection of the ways

Instant Response:

• Low system friction
• No binding between bearings and ways for gentle, fast, and precise correction
• Minimum time lag from signal to correction by use of direct air pressure instead of oil or combination of air and oil

Reduced Maintenance:

• Anti-friction bearings sized for minimum 10 years life at maximum load recommended
• Unique carriage mounting for even load distribution to minimize wear of bearings and ways
• Dust tight and water tight protection of ways and bearings for infrequent lubrication
• Easy replacement of protective boots and diaphragm actuators

Versatile:

• Guides can be used at any location on the machine wet and dry end, also in the finishing room
• Can be mounted standing, hanging, or inclined
• Can be used for combined roll and doctor mounting
• Can be arranged for two roll mounting for delicate web control
• Compact design of standard sizes can be easily be modified for special requirements

Edge Sensing:

• Mechanical/pneumatic edge sensing palm valve is standard with each assembly
• Fluidic or electronic edge sensing system can be applied

Automatic or hand guide operated:

• Primarily intended for automatic web guiding with use of edge sensing devices
• Highly recommended for near or remote hand operation by eliminating the edge sensing controls and using one of the pressure control valves for carriage positioning
